ROY MAUGHAN, SR.
served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was
a counter-intelligence officer and was released from duty
with the rank of Captain. |

He thereafter
obtained his doctorate degree in law in 1960 from Louisiana
State University, Paul M. Hebert Law School and has been
actively practicing for the past 46 years.
He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the
Baton Rouge Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers
Association having served on its Product Liability Committee
and the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association, having served as
a member of its Board of Governors.
He has lectured at the Louisiana State University Paralegal
School. He has co-chaired high school mock trial competition
and has been involved in other volunteer education programs
for youths.
When he was 20 years old he did a 32 month service mission for
his church in South America and is fluent in Spanish.
His areas of practice include representing and litigating on
behalf of clients in business transactions and personal injury
claims of all types.
He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in
Louisiana and the United States Supreme Court. He has been
admitted to try cases in Texas and Mississippi. His trial
experience includes being lead counsel in over 750 cases that
have gone to trial including more than 100 jury trials.
Mr. Maughan leads the appellate section in his law firm. There
are more than 100 cases in the Southern Reporter in which he
has represented an appellant or an appellee. He has also had
extensive appellate practice in the federal system including
three cases in the United States Supreme Court that were
decided favorably to his clients.
